The seminar took held during a visit to the Defence Innovation Unit at Moffett Field. DIU is the department’s principal organisation for advancing the use of commercial technologies.

DIU defence chiefs witnessed capabilities demonstrations centred on artificial intelligence, integrated air defence systems, tactical augmented reality, space architecture, and virtual training for air dominance.

According to the official, the three nations are also creating an AUKUS Industry Forum with trilateral government and industry leaders to assist guide policy, technical, and commercial frameworks to accelerate the development and delivery of advanced capabilities. The forum’s inaugural meeting will take place in the first half of 2024.
The official stated that progress is being made on the nuclear-powered, conventionally armed assault submarine programme.
